Whilst Rangers fans were celebrating a comfortable win and solid performance in Gibraltar, a BBC Scotland tweet suggested the broadcaster was in mourning.
Rangers were rampant in the second half scoring four goals in an energetic, powerful display which earned the adulation of the club’s supporters.
But according to the national broadcaster, Rangers “avoided a Europa League upset by beating St. Joseph’s in Gibraltar”. The tweet has since been deleted.

The entire thing is nonsense and shows the broadcaster up to be very bitter and more han a little upset at Rangers’ resounding victory on the British overseas territory.
The longstanding dispute with BBC Scotland has been rumbling on for years but came to a head last season when both Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson and shareholders/fan-group Club 1872 spoke out on the issue.
This isn’t the first time BBC Scotland have deleted embarrassing, biased and bitter tweets regarding Rangers.
The organisation was forced to apologise after tweeting an image of Ryan Jack’s severed head and even tried to suggest James Tavernier was somehow mutually responsible after being assaulted by a Hibs’ fan.
It is laughable that the organisation chooses to behave this way.
It is incredibly unprofessional and reflects incredibly badly on the standard of journalist and person in the sports department of the group.
Regardless of this bitter feud with the club, they should be endeavouring to provide balanced and positive coverage.

They are a national broadcaster which is part-funded by Rangers fans.
This is childish, bitter and reeks of bias.
Just look at the BBC Scotland tweet about the Celtic game in comparison.
