For Rangers fans everywhere, joining Celtic can only be described as the cardinal sin. The biggest no-no in Scottish football.
Greg Taylor – a self-confessed boyhood Rangers fan – is the latest player to cross the Glasgow divide and join the club which he grew up rivalling.
The Scotland international left-back joined Celtic in a reported £3m deal on deadline day, and Rangers fans have been recoiling in horror via Twitter.

In fairness to Taylor, he’s not exactly the first player to turn out for his Old Firm rivals in Scotland.
Maurice Johnston – a signing which still hurts some Celtic fans to this day – is the most obvious example from a Rangers point of view.
But in more recent years the likes of Scott Allan – who appeared to get a Rangers tattoo whilst at Parkhead – joined Celtic despite being a bluenose.
Things didn’t work out for Allan at Parkhead and now he’s back at Hibs. But he’s also never lived it down amongst the Rangers support.
Somewhat differently from Taylor, there was concrete interest from Rangers in Scott Allan but the allure of Champions League football and big wages meant he went to Celtic.

It didn’t help Hibs refused to deal with Rangers at the time. Both sides were competing for the Scottish Championship and promotion.
There were plenty of Rangers fans who wanted the Ibrox club to move for Taylor, but there was never anything official from the club.
Rangers chose to invest in someone who wanted to play at Ibrox above anywhere else instead.
