After going 3-0 up before half-time last night, it looked like Rangers’ Scottish Cup tie with Cowdenbeath might turn into a rout.
Yet, shortly after the break, Cowdenbeath were awarded a controversial penalty.
That moment changed the momentum of the game and there were to be no further goals from the visitors.

In some ways, then, it was a solid, but unspectacular performance.
Apart from the goal scorers, there was little to write home about in terms of individual displays.
However, amongst it all, there was a huge moment for one Gers Academy star.
Jordan Houston.
In the 86th minute, he replaced Daniel Candeias.
In doing so, he made his competitive debut for Rangers

While he got a run out on under a fortnight ago against HJK Helsinki at Ibrox, that was a friendly. Little more than a training exercise, where over 20 players were used.
Display of trust from Gerrard
Last night, though, was the real deal.
Of course, the opponents were a fourth tier side.
Yet, this was genuine Scottish Cup action and Gerrard showed faith in the youngster.

Shortly after entering the fray, he almost got through on goal. A slight loss of balance and the bounce of the ball was all that prevented a fairytale opportunity.
Despite that, it must have been an incredible feeling to get out there last night.
The youngster took to Twitter shortly afterwards, expressing his delight and there were no shortage of Bears congratulating him on his achievement.
An in-form Rangers loanee passed on his congratulations too.
