Manchester United and England legend Paul Ince has been raving about Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty after his FA Cup heroics for Shrewsbury Town at the weekend.
The 22-year-old – on loan at the Shropshire club – opened the scoring against Premier League Wolves with an emphatic finish. The match would finish 2-2 with Docherty catching the eye.
He played so well, Paul Ince even claimed that Stevie G “will be dragging him back”.
Speaking on BBC One’s Match of the Day [broadcast 26/01/2019], Ince heaped praise on the on-loan Shrews midfielder.
“I thought he was outstanding today not just defensively but offensively, breaking forward, hitting shots, he has a fantastic strike on him,” Ince said on BBC One.
“This is his goal. I loved to see players making this bursting runs, cuts inside, takes slight deflection and Ruddy has absolutely no chance.

“He was fantastic all game and he’s on loan from Rangers and if Stevie G is watching this performance then he will be dragging him back.”
Paul Ince heaps praise on Doc
It is high praise indeed from the likes of Paul Ince, who spent his entire career playing at the highest level.
Ince made over 250 appearances for Man United, also playing for the likes of Inter Milan and Liverpool, and making over 50 caps for England.

Doc’s been in top form since moving down south to Shrewsbury for the year. And he did his growing reputation no harm with a sterling performance at the weekend.
It will be music to the ears of Gers fans who have been watching Docherty’s progress all season. There is a real hope that the box-to-box midfielder can make an impression on the Rangers first team next year.
Even as early as last week fans were asking the midfielder to “come home”. But for now, Shropshire looks like the best place for Doc to develop.
Docherty has eight goals and eight assists in 32 appearances for League One Shrewsbury this year.
