Rangers fans have praised Ryan Jack following his post-match RangersTV interview in Aberdeen on Wednesday evening.

The Gers midfielder and ex-Dons skipper would have felt on top of the world half an hour into the fixture, as he pounced on Joe Lewis’ error to score against his old club and put the Gers into a 2-0 lead.

That elation proved to be short-lived, and Jack himself was guilty of giving the ball away in key areas on several occasions, as Rangers wilted under pressure and handed their hosts a route back into the game, which ultimately finished 2-2.

It’s a tough result to swallow for fans and players alike, but the 27-year-old spoke well after the match.

“Obviously, at the minute, we’re down and frustrated,” Jack told RangersTV. “Everyone’s not feeling great about themselves. We’re a team that when we get on top of teams and we go 2-0 up there should only be one outcome. We shouldn’t be throwing away a two-goal lead against anyone, especially away from home.”

“I thought the first 30-40 minutes we were absolutely excellent, we played the game in the right way…the way we want to look as a team. From half-time onwards, we lost that, we got a bit edgy, a bit nervy. The goals are criminal at any level, never mind the level we’re playing at.

“But, as I say, we take it on the chin and it’s important that we dust ourselves down and move on.”

That was the first of several admirably honest assessments from Jack in the interview, and despite the frustration of the fans with the result, he was praised for his handling of the questions.

Not for the first time, there were calls for the Scotland international to be considered for the Gers captaincy.
