Rangers edged out a 1-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Ibrox earning a vital three-points at a transformational juncture of the season.

Match one of ten remaining in the Scottish Premiership ended in victory with the Gers needing just four wins from the remaining nine to effectively secure the title.

Another point beyond that will do it absolutely but with the club’s impressive goal difference it’s unlikely Celtic would catch them, even if it’s equally improbable they’d do so on points.

Having drawn with Hamilton – and with the return of the Europa League next up – dropping more points against Tommy Wright’s side would’ve applied unnecessary pressure as the fixture list begins to ramp up.

The matchwinner came from returning midfielder Ryan Jack whose arrowed volley was the stand-out piece of quality in a match which Rangers undoubtedly deserved to win.

The Ibrox club spurned several chances throughout the match and showed some of the verve and swagger which is has gotten them to this point in the season.

Whilst the first half was slow and turgid Rangers played their best football in the first 15 of the second period but were unable to build on Ryan Jack’s first half wonder strike.

Even though Rangers failed to increase their tally, Kilmarnock rarely threatened and but for a potential free-kick at the edge of the box in the latter stages offered little to proceedings.

The returning Ryan Jack took the plaudits for Rangers as his howitzer took all the points with Gers fans delighted to see their man back amongst the goals:

Rangers fans were delighted to see Jack back in the starting line-up as the midfielder set the foundations for the season’s run-in with a fine strike.

The Ibrox legions praised the starting XI pre-match with Man of the Match Steven Davis’ selection also lauded by supporters.
