Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was rewarded for his team’s fine Scottish Premiership form amid a tough away schedule with the Manager of the Month award.

The Ibrox boss steered Rangers to four wins and one draw during a hectic month which saw Rangers travel to Pittodrie, Fir Park, Easter Road and Celtic Park, coming away with ten points.

Rangers also beat Hearts and Kilmarnock at home in the league last month to take 16 points from a possible 18.

It leaves the Gers within two points of rivals Celtic with a game in hand and sets up the second half of the season perfectly for his side.

The award is testament to the progress that Gerrard has made with a side which may well have struggled to grind out such a run in such tough conditions last season.

The defeat to Celtic, draw at Tynecastle and dropped points to Aberdeen remain the only blots on the gaffer’s copybook in the league this season.

Victories at Easter Road and Celtic Park were the first of Gerrard’s tenure, whilst the Liverpool legend can be disappointed not to have taken all three at Pittodrie.

Gerrard’s achievements in the month of December haven’t gone unnoticed with the Ibrox support either.

Rangers fans took to Twitter to praise the job their manager is doing:
