Rangers supporters are revelling in the misery of their fiercest rivals once again after a Celtic announcement prompted a fan meltdown.

It was disaster after disaster at Celtic Park during the recently completed 2020/21 campaign and big changes are taking place ahead of next season.

Chief executive Peter Lawwell’s time at the club is almost over and long-term captain Scott Brown is off to Aberdeen.

However, a permanent successor to Neil Lennon – who left in February – is yet to be appointed.

Rangers’ season ticket renewals deadline has already come and gone, with managing director Stewart Robertson praising the remarkable commitment of the fan base.

However, Celtic had delayed the commencement of their renewals process in the hope that confirming a new manager first would boost interest.

With the managerial hunt not playing out as they’d hoped, though, they’ve been forced to press ahead.

In a tweet posted on Wednesday, the Hoops acknowledged the failings of their recruitment process before encouraging fans to renew.

Season ticket prices have been frozen and ‘thank you’ gift vouchers worth £50 have been offered to all season ticket holders from last season.

The announcement didn’t go down well at all with Celtic supporters, with the initial tweet receiving more replies than likes.

Needless to say, though, Rangers fans found the whole thing hilarious.
