Rangers fans don’t always see eye-to-eye with Scotland national team manager Steve Clarke.

The Tartan Army boss has had a few run-ins with Gers fans during his time at Kilmarnock and it hasn’t always been plain sailing on Scotland duties either.

Between clashes with Steven Gerrard over Ryan Jack or disagreements of Rangers players in the Scotland squad, tensions have often run high.

But as Scotland prepare to welcome the great man Cristiano Ronaldo to Hampden with Portugal this evening, there’s been a rare moment of agreement between Ibrox fans and the Scotland boss.

Steve Clarke calls up Connor Barron

Heading into the UEFA Nations League double-header, John Souttar was the only Rangers representative in the Scotland squad.

The 28-year-old Ibrox star was handed his first start in over two years in the 2-1 defeat to Croatia, with Souttar impressing local media with his performance.

Heading into the clash with Portugal, Steve Clarke’s squad was impacted by yet another call-off as Celtic winger James Forrest pulled out of the team.

But instead of calling up another attacker to the squad, Steve Clarke called up Rangers midfielder Connor Barron for only the second time in his short career.

It’s a moment which is a cause for celebration amongst Rangers fans, who’ve seen the former Aberdeen kid come on leaps and bounds at Ibrox this season.

Rangers fans react to Connor Barron Scotland call

Most Rangers fans took the chance to congratulate Connor Barron on the Scotland call.

The Rangers fans even took a moment to applaud Steve Clarke in a rare moment of agreement between the two parties.

One even claimed the Scotland manager has finally ‘saw sense’.

Another has claimed that Barron ‘should’ve been in the squad for the Croatia game’ with a lack of midfield options in the national team due to injury.

The call-up also appears to have ‘triggered all the right’ people according to one user, who adds the bleating from Aberdeen and Celtic fans is ‘nice’.

But above all else, one user appeared to echo what we’re all collectively thinking with a simple message to wrap things up.
