Rangers fans in dreamland as in-demand international signs Ibrox deal

Rangers’ in-demand Croatian international defender Borna Barisic has signed a new deal with the Ibrox side – and the club’s supporters are loving it.

The flying wing-back has undoubtedly been Rangers’ most improved player this season and has earned the adulation of the adoring Ibrox support with his impassioned performances and first-class delivery.

Signing a four-and-a-half-year deal tying him to the club until 2024, it’s not bad for a player many tipped for the exit door only five months ago.

After a resurgence in form Barisic’s performances earned him interest from around Serie A, with the likes of AS Roma and SSC Napoli [Area Napoli] both credited with an interest.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard made it clear his intentions to get the full-back tied down [Herald] on a new deal and going by Borna’s thoughts on the entire thing, it wasn’t hard to convince him to sign it.

“I am very happy to extend my contract here; I have spent a nice year and a half here so far so hopefully the next four are the same,” said Barisic [Rangers].

“I want to thank our Sporting Director Ross Wilson and everyone on the board at Rangers Football Club.

“I would also like to thank the staff I work with every day, our manager Steven Gerrard and my teammates, who have helped me get to this point.

“Most importantly I would like to thank the fans who always support me and that is for sure one of the reasons why I have signed the new contract and why I feel like I am with my family here at Rangers.”

Going on to discuss Rangers’ fans adaptation of Karma Chameleon to the wing-back’s name, Barisic clearly has a growing affinity with the Ibrox support.
