Rangers fans have been agreeing with the comments of BBC Scotland chief sportswriter Tom English for once as the row over the SPFL proposal vote rumbles on.

The Irish sportswriter released a scathing column, criticising both SPFL chairman Murdoch MacLennan and chief executive Neil Doncaster for declaring champions without commiserating clubs who were unfairly relegated.

Describing it as adding “insult to injury”, English’s column covers everything from the questionable SPFL conduct, Dundee’s dodgy altered vote and Rangers’ very public anger at the members’ body.

English claims that whilst Rangers have gone public with claims of bullying, other sides are saying it in private.

Traditionally considered an opponent of Rangers, like the Glasgow club English has been very critical of the powers that be for how they’ve managed this situation.

The outspoken BBC journalist also claims that Dundee’s behaviour has “shredded the credibility of the vote”.

“As Dundee wrote about acts of kindness towards the poor clubs who now find themselves relegated because of a remarkable volte face, some might have been thinking more along of the lines of disbelief and incredulity,” said English [BBC Sport].

“Dundee’s words won’t have been much of a balm to those left to pick up the pieces in the wake of their vote that never was.

“Dundee’s behaviour shredded the credibility of the vote. By Wednesday morning even avowed Yes supporters acknowledged that the integrity of the resolution was shot to smithereens and needed replacing by something new.

“The SPFL board ploughed on and got the result they were looking for. It was the strangest kind of victory that left division in its wake.”

English was on the BBC Sportsound radio show which interview ICT chief executive Scot Gardiner, who revealed Dundee’s No vote intentions via a WhatsApp group chat [Sportsound].

He has been a regular vocal opponent of the behaviour of the SPFL throughout this and an unlikely ally for many Rangers fans desperate for any corruption to be brought to task:
