Rangers fans have dominated an official Europa League Twitter post and poll ahead of their team’s crunch clash against Porto on Thursday evening.

The Gers go into the game locked on four points with the Portuguese heavyweights, but goal difference sees the Light Blues sitting one position above the visitors in second.

A win would give Gerrard’s men real control heading into the final two fixtures, a draw would leave things wide open, while a defeat would be tough to come back from.

Yet, despite the history associated with the opposition, there’s no need to be fearful.

The Gers more than held their own in the Dragao a fortnight ago, securing a well-deserved point in a stadium that’s proved something of a European fortress in the recent past.

Given how well they fared on the road, Steven Gerrard’s squad are bound to fancy their chances under the lights at Ibrox, especially with the opposition missing their highly-rated talisman, Moussa Marega, through injury.

Judging by social media activity, it seems plenty of Bears are confident going into this one.

When the Official Europa League Twitter account asked who fans thought would emerge victorious in a post which was quickly followed by a poll, Rangers emerged as the clear choice.

At the time of writing, there had been close to 6000 votes lodged, with 60% voting for the Gers and just 31% fancying Porto, with 9% backing a draw.

It was the comment section that was truly hijacked by Gers fans, though.
