Rangers fans have gone wild for Ibrox star Alfredo Morelos’ post-Old Firm tweet.

The 24-year-old has been an extremely popular figure with supporters ever since he signed from HJK Helsinki in the summer of 2017.

He’s tested the patience of the fan base on plenty of occasions with lapses in discipline, but he’s delivered much more joy than pain and he finally broke his Old Firm goalscoring duck on Sunday afternoon.

The Colombia international stooped to head home from close range at the back post in the 38th minute following a Leon Balogun flick-on, cancelling out Mohamed Elyounoussi’s earlier opener.

Morelos was visibly delighted with his first derby day goal and Steven Gerrard admitted after the game that his player would likely be very relieved [RangersTV].

It was a 93rd goal in 176 appearances for the Gers and a sixth in his last nine appearances, but fittingly, it was also his 55th league strike since his arrival in Scottish football.

El Bufalo is typically very straight to the point with his social media captions and on Sunday evening, he tweeted a picture of his celebration accompanied only by emojis.

Those were of a buffalo, a football, the Colombia flag, a trophy and raised hands.

Rangers fans have waited a long time for an image of their talisman celebrating a goal against Celtic and they went wild for the post.

At the time of writing, it had racked up over 15k likes, with hundreds of fans leaving glowing comments.

Here’s a selection of reactions from Twitter:

Rangers fans have also raved about a ‘sensational’ player whose Ibrox future is uncertain.
