Rangers fans have raved about Allan McGregor’s outstanding display in a 1-1 draw with Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday afternoon.
The Champions weren’t at their best on the day and didn’t do enough to win their third consecutive away Old Firm, but the dream of an unbeaten Premiership season remains alive.
Mohamed Elyounoussi put the Hoops in front with a diving header in the 23rd minute but the Gers were only behind for 15 minutes, with Alfredo Morelos breaking his derby duck by heading in Leon Balogun’s initial effort from close range at the back post.
Morelos may have grabbed the goal but as has been the case on many occasions over the past few seasons, McGregor was arguably Rangers’ standout performer.
The 39-year-old could have done better for Slavia Prague’s first goal on Thursday night, but he was back at his best for this one.
He was called upon on a number of occasions in both halves, pulling off diving stops, saving well with his legs and showing immaculate handling.
It was a second consecutive top-class Old Firm display from the former Scotland international, who pulled off several spectacular saves at Ibrox in January and supporters were very appreciative of his efforts.
The keeper’s current contract is due to expire at the end of the season and although fellow veteran Steven Davis signed a one-year extension earlier this weekend, there’s uncertainty around McGregor’s future.
