Rangers fans group the Union Bears have been applauded for their display honouring Walter Smith despite the quick turnaround to produce the banner.
A huge tribute to the Rangers gaffer was unfurled in the Broomloan Stand as the players made their way onto the pitch which included a blacked-out crest and the Gaffer’s name.
Underneath this a banner reading “FOR DEEDS DONE AND GLORIES WON, THANK YOU WALTER” was held up by fans whilst Walter’s trophy haul was included in the tier above.
Rangers might’ve went on to draw the clash with Aberdeen 2-2 – in a performance as bad as any we’ve seen from this stuttering Ibrox side all season – but this display has earned plaudits.
Not least because the group had such a short window of time to put something together with Walter’s passing being announced by the club little over 24 hours before the match.

After the display was unfurled, both Rangers and Aberdeen fans impeccably observed a minute’s silence as Walter Smith was remembered across Scotland.
Rangers fans also belted out Walter Smith’s Blue & White Army throughout the 90 minutes as the club remembered the man and the legend that brought them so much success.

Rangers unfortunately couldn’t get the win that the week we’ve just had so desperately craved but after an emotional few days perspective is perhaps important.
The Gers have not been good enough to date this season and some calamitous defending in the opening stages put our backs against the ropes.
At 2-0 down and lacking guile and invention, Rangers suffered from a lack of intensity both at the end of the first half and the start of the second. We were lucky to escape with a draw.
Big changes are needed and something must be done because – and this is no exaggeration – if we continue to trundle through matches like this the bottom will fall out before long.
An ordinarily key player was also missing for the clash with Aberdeen and this was explained by Clive Tyldesley pre-match.
