Ibrox star Alfredo Morelos has been snapped back at Rangers training after an extended period away from the club was pressurised by transfer links to FC Porto.

A firm favourite amongst the Ibrox legions, the 25-year-old striker was snapped with a trademark smile as he looks to prove his fitness for the season ahead.

The Colombian striker left for Brazil to take part in the Copa America with his country this summer but contracted Covid-19 prior to the two World Cup Qualification matches that doubled as warm-up games for the tournament.

Despite earning only nine minutes playing time at the tournament, Morelos’ time in Brazil stretched the full length of the tournament, Colombia eventually coming third.

The striker would then spend some time back in his hometown of Cerete in Colombia before jetting back to Scotland and going through a period of enforced hotel quarantine.

All of this was also happening against the backdrop of high-profile links to the Portuguese giants, something which drew the ire of Rangers boss Steven Gerrard when questioned about it.

All of this contributed to a very frustrating pre-season for the striker and the club but after months away from Ibrox, El Bufalo is finally back.

And the fans could not be happier.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard confirmed the striker was now available for selection but also conceded Alfie would need a couple of training sessions to get back into the swing.

“Morelos is available but he will need a couple of sessions on his return,” said Steven Gerrard [Rangers].

It’ll be welcome news for an adoring Rangers support who are convinced the side is weaker without their resident firebrand leading the attack.

What’s more, even amid the reported interest from elsewhere, a leading Scots journalist claimed earlier in the week that Alfie is committed to Rangers this season.
