Rangers fans criticise Scottish journalist for red card “double standards”

A leading Scottish football journalist is being criticised by Rangers fans for holding “double standards” over two similar red card incidents.

Clyde Superscoreboard pundit Hugh Keevins had previously slammed Rangers winger Ryan Kent for raising his arms and being sent off against Lyon.

According to Keevins on Clyde SBB on the 17th of July, the referee had “no option” but to send Kent off in France.

Some viewed the decision as soft but it was one which – by the letter of the law – was the correct one.

But when it came to criticising Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard for a forearm smash into Killie defender Stuart Findlay, Keevins was adamant it wasn’t a red whilst speaking on the 10th of August show.

Rangers fans called on the SFA compliance officer to review the Edouard elbow/forearm smash on Findlay, highlighting the difference in treatment given to Alfredo Morelos.

Now the club’s fans have been responding to the video and comments of Keevins which they claim is evidence of the double standards in reporting when it comes to Rangers and Celtic on Clyde SSB.

To be fair to Keevins, the Kent incident is right in front of the referee, but Odsonne Edouard clearly raises his arm to Stuart Findlay in an aggressive manner.

However, the journalist uses the phrase “lifting his hands” in both scenarios and is adamant only one of them is a solid red card.

Is this evidence of Keevins’ unfair reporting on Rangers or are some of the club’s supporters being far too sensitive?
