Rangers fans convinced Ibrox star has been “robbed” after award move

Four Rangers players have been nominated for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year Award – but one leading Ibrox star can count himself bitterly unlucky to miss out in the running.

Rangers stars Allan McGregor, James Tavernier, Steven Davis and Ryan Kent have all been named in the running for the award which is voted for by their fellow professionals in the league.

The winner of the award will be announced Sunday 16th May as the Ibrox side prepare to lift 55 this weekend in a monumental occasion for everyone associated with the Gers.

These four players have certainly done their bit to secure this legendary league title win and the nominations are selected by the players in the division.

But for many fans Connor Goldson is their Player of the Year and they find it scandalous he hasn’t been included in the running.

This list is almost identical to the nominations for the Football Writers’ Player of the Year Awards where Goldson replaces Kent in the running.

There could be so many nominations from Player of the Year from the Rangers camp as the Ibrox side sit 180 minutes from an unbeaten league season.

Whilst Rangers fans certainly appreciate the contribution of Ryan Kent this season they are well aware of Goldson’s role in this league winning campaign.

Fans took to Twitter to ask the question as to why the club’s vice-captain wasn’t including despite playing every minute this season and contributing massively to 24 Premiership clean sheets:

The big defender, 28, has been a hugely influential figure at Ibrox this season and quite rightly deserves all the plaudits he’s receiving from fans.

But despite earlier reports that Goldson was set to sign a new deal at Ibrox imminently there has been little movement in this regard via official club communication channels.
