An announcement regarding a reported Rangers contract deal with Connor Goldson appears to have been delayed as the Gers look to tie down one of the club’s leading stars.

The big Englishman has not missed a minute of football for the Rangers this season as the centre-back forms the foundation on which 55 has been built.

The Gers have already moved to sign up Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and James Tavernier ahead of the next campaign and reportedly Connor Goldson is one of the next on the list.

The Daily Record claimed last month that Rangers has struck a deal to keep Goldson at Ibrox until 2024 with an agreement set to be concluded within days of that report.

Football Insider also claimed the Gers were set to make Goldson, 28, amongst the highest earners at the club with a £30k per week contract worth £4.5m.

However, in the weeks proceeding these reports there has been little official movement in this regard as the Gers look to build towards 56.

Ibrox goliath Goldson remains a vital part of the Gers side and as things stand is about to enter the final year of his contract.

Goldson was one of the first major signings of the Gerrard regime at Ibrox and since moving for a reported £3m in 2018 has cemented himself as a leading player for the club.

The ex-Brighton star is also a firm fan favourite and supporters will be hoping that any deal for the defender is tied up before long.

Goldson’s performances this season also mean he forms one of four Gers players involved in an end of season clean sweep at Ibrox.
