Rangers fans have clashed on social media when discussing the possibility of a move for formerly Ibrox linked Aberdeen midfielder, Lewis Ferguson.
Ferguson netted for the Dons in a 1-1 draw with Celtic at Pittodrie on Wednesday night and it caused the debate to resurface amongst Bears on social media.
The Scottish Sun reported last summer that the Scotland youth international was a priority transfer target for Steven Gerrard but he had only just signed a contract extension tying him to Pittodrie until 2024 and no switch materialised.
He’s been a near ever-present for Aberdeen since then, making 37 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring ten goals and registering five assists.
Some supporters feel that he’d be a major asset to Rangers.
He already has 134 senior appearances under his belt aged just 21, while he has the tenacity and strength to go alongside his impressive numbers.
What’s more, he has strong connections to Ibrox. His father, Derek, played for the Gers between 1983 and 1990, while his uncle Barry won 15 major honours with the club.
It’s thought that the Dons star also supports Rangers, with social media activity from his youth appearing to back up that assertion.
Some supporters aren’t convinced that he is at the level required to make an impact at Ibrox, though.
