Rangers battled to a tough 0-0 against Legia Warsaw in Poland last night, with the battle hardened performance of Ryan Jack standing out to supporters.

The Rangers midfielder has been in outstanding form this season and that was evident again in his composed midfield performance in the Europa League qualifier.

Rangers fans took to Twitter to raise a toast to the 27-year-old, who has come on leaps and bounds under the stewardship of Steven Gerrard.


Rangers fans weren’t the only ones singing the praises of Ryan Jack last night either.

Club manager Steven Gerrard has been fawning over the player in recent weeks, even suggesting he deserves a reward for his performances [Scottish Sun].

There’s also been plenty of talk about the player being a future Rangers captain.

Speaking about Jack and goalkeeper Allan McGregor, Steven Gerrard is just happy to have them both playing well.

“Do we not say that about them most weeks?” said Gerrard [Rangers.co.uk].

“I have been talking about Ryan Jack’s consistency for a long time and he loves a challenge and loves a big game.

“He is enjoying this stage and I think he is really enjoying playing in this system.

“We need to keep him in this form as long as we can. On nights like tonight when we’re playing against these teams that have got experience and are spending a lot of money, it’s only normal at times we are going to have to rely on Allan.

“Again, he was big for us tonight.”
