Rangers fans have called for current Ibrox star Jermain Defoe to be offered a coaching role when his deal expires at the end of the season.
Defoe arrived in Glasgow in January 2019 on an initial loan from then Premier League club Bournemouth.

The 38-year-old striker enjoyed his first 18 months at Ibrox, despite his sporadic playing opportunities, and signed a one-year contract which kicked in ahead of this season.
The addition of Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten to the ranks has subsequently increased competition in forward areas, but the England international has still managed nine appearances in all competitions, scoring four times and notching two assists.
Despite his age, the veteran continues to look extremely sharp in and around the box, and his goal in the 2-0 win over Livingston at Ibrox in October was arguably the best scored by a Ger in domestic competition this season.
However, he’s been left on the bench for each of the last four Premiership matches and some supporters aren’t convinced that he should be offered an extension when the time comes.

Instead, many are calling for him to be offered a coaching role at the club, so he can pass on his wealth of knowledge to the first-team and Academy strikers.
Defoe has previously been praised for his willingness to offer advice to young players, while Steven Gerrard has stated in the past that the club may consider offering him a coaching position [Scottish Sun].
It looks a natural next step for the veteran, should he feel he is ready to hang up his boots.
