Rangers fans might be gutted that Celtic legend Neil Lennon won’t be in the dugout to see them lift 55 – but they’re certainly boosted by the notion that another one could be.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has had a truly awful season and finds himself routinely on the bench as his side toil for victories and a Parkhead dynasty unceremoniously comes to an end.

But with John Kennedy set to take the reigns at Celtic Park for the time being, reports are suggesting Scott Brown is set to be offered a coaching role with the club.

Brown, 35, has lorded it over all and sundry during a period where Celtic didn’t have a challenge in Scottish football and has been shown up as ordinary time and again this season.

According to the Daily Record, over the hill Brown could be offered a coaching role in a “rejigged” backroom staff until the end of the season.

In other words, in Celtic’s season of all seasons the midfielder has been so poor they’re set to move him off the pitch and into the dugout instead of putting him out to pasture for the final eight games of the campaign.

Rangers fans are in stitches at the notion that Scott Brown could be involved in the backroom staff at a club apparently in transition as old habits appear to die-hard at Parkhead:

It’s not the only Scott Brown story that has been capturing the imagination of Rangers fans this week either.

The Gers support was in stitches when it was revealed Scott Brown shut down a press conference when asked about Rangers winning the title at Parkhead.
