Rangers fans brand Hibs star a “coward” for embarrassing Ibrox incident

As Rangers ran out 2-1 winners over Hibs there were plenty of Ibrox stars who deserved the plaudits.

Ryan Kent stole the show with a beautiful second-half strike, gliding in from the right, skipping by two Hibs players, and rattling an effort into the far corner.

Joe Aribo deserves special mention for his wonderfully taken volley to open the scoring, the match-winning Nigerian international now on eight goals for the season.

Filip Helander too grabbed much of the attention of supporters after yet another resolute defensive display for the club as he maintained his unbeaten record in the Scottish Premiership.

But one player in the opposition camp caught the eye of Rangers supporters for all the wrong reasons.

Ryan Porteous, 22, is routinely lauded by the press as a player Scotland can look to in the future to help aid their centre-back woes.

But Porteous once again let himself down against the Champions with his often needlessly aggressive defending failing to prevent the centre-half winding up on the beaten team.

Two incidents in particular stand out – a rather needless shove in the back of Kemar Roofe in the first half and when he raked his studs down Connor Goldson in the second.

The jury is still out on whether or not this defender – who has a propensity for malicious and downright dangerous play against Rangers – meant to hurt the Ibrox vice-captain.

Not only that but the defender embarrassingly went down clutching his face as if to try and get Goldson sent off.

Rangers fans – who’ve seen Porteous try and assault their players many times – are not giving this angry wee man the benefit of the doubt:

Rangers ran out 2-1 winners at Ibrox courtesy of strikes from Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent at Ibrox.

Whilst Porteous is one player who caught the eye for the wrong reasons at Ibrox, another Hibs star’s showing has Gers fans asking the question over a potential transfer.
