Rangers fans have been blown away by the news that Real Madrid will take on the Gers in a friendly at Ibrox later this month [Rangers.co.uk].
In June, four pre-season fixtures against Partick Thistle, Tranmere Rovers, Arsenal and Blackpool were confirmed, and the first of those was played on Monday night, with Steven Gerrard’s side triumphing 1-0 at Firhill.

Supporters were told to expect an additional announcement regarding the final week of pre-season, so when a fixture against Brighton was confirmed on Wednesday, many assumed that the schedule was complete.
However, the club are pushing the boat out as part of their 150th-year celebrations and on Thursday morning, a final extremely high-profile fixture was announced.
On 25 July, just a day after the Gers take on the Seagulls, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid will be in Govan.
Los Blancos have agreed to play at Ibrox for just the second time ever, with the first meeting between the two sides taking place in the European Cup in 1963.
The fixture could see world-class players like Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois and Luka Modric strutting their stuff against Gerrard’s men.

Bears were blown away by the news and although it’s not yet known how many fans will be permitted to attend the fixture, there were plenty of positive responses to the announcement on social media.
Here’s a selection of reactions from Twitter:

One player unlikely to feature in the fixture is Jake Hastie after an Auchenhowie development suggested he’s not in the manager’s plans.
