Another Rangers game, another no-nonsense presser from Stevie G. But it wasn’t any talk of match tactics that caught the fan’s attention yesterday, it’s what he said about our rivals.
Discussing the fact Hibs had cut the ticket allocation for both Old Firm sides, Gerrard was very honest.
“It is what it is,” Gerrard said. “We just get on with that. We’d like as many fans in the game as possible because the support we’ve had has been excellent. We always know the amount of seats that are available Rangers take them. We took 12,000 to Vienna last week which is incredible.”

But it’s not that which had fans gushing. He rounded off the subject by saying:
“But we also have to respect the fact that it’s a Hibs game and a lot of their supporters want to come and watch Rangers as well.”

Rangers are a massive draw for teams across the country, and it’s almost like a cup final for them. By lowering our allocation, it gives our rivals back the home advantage. It’s not as if we can say anything either.
But you can guarantee Hibs fans will turn out in their droves when Rangers roll into town. Even if they don’t usually.
It’s a massive game tonight and Rangers needs to be at it from the first whistle to the last. To the fans who do take the trip, they’ll have a huge role to play in any success we have tonight.
And Gerrard seems very excited about facing off against rival Neil Lennon too.
