Rangers have announced record kit sales after the club secured 55 with over 250k replica shirts shifted at the start of the club’s legendary 150th-anniversary season.

With kits priced between £50 for juniors and £65 for adults, this means somewhere between £12.5m and £16.25m has been raised in sales of the jersey alone.

Now Rangers won’t see all of that money for a number of reasons but it shows you the substantial investment Rangers retail can have on the club.

For years the Gers were starved of an appropriate or even fair retail deal and since signing with Castore – love them or hate them – this has been a welcome addition to the club’s operations.

These sales also “sit alongside” the sale of “hundreds of thousands” of training range and Champions range sales.

It’s quite remarkable and symbolic of the support fans pour into the legendary football club.

The news also comes as the Gers announce the hotly anticipated opening date of the club’s new store at Glasgow Airport.

Having a presence at the international airport is of prime importance to supporters and the new store will be opened on August 11th.

This follows on from the success of new stores being launched at Ibrox Stadium, Glasgow City Centre and Belfast City Centre.

“Next week’s opening of the Rangers Store at Glasgow Airport represents another important step forward in our continued expansion of Rangers thriving retail operations, in close collaboration with our partners Castore,” said Rangers Director of Commercial and Marketing James Bisgrove [Rangers].

“With Ibrox confirmed to return to its roaring 50,000 capacity, coupled with the gradual resumption of international travel, the opening of our latest Rangers Store couldn’t come at a better time.”

Rangers say that the opening of the store is testament to the “success” of the partnership between Rangers and Castore.

Castore’s Director of Partnerships Pascal Lafitte also claims that the retailer is “honoured” to be working with Rangers and praised the “passion” fans have for the club.

Rangers’ commercial department continues to impress and the club this week applied for permission to revamp an area of Ibrox as part of another key partnership.
