Rangers fan blog nails Morelos situation better than any journalist

A Rangers fan blog is being widely praised by supporters as it deconstructs the narrative surrounding Alfredo Morelos.

The Scottish Premiership’s top scorer has come in for much criticism after firing Rangers into first, but why?

The blog, hosted on www.gersnet.co.uk and written by Gordon Smith goes in depth into the ongoing criticism of the striker. Smith, like many other fans, feel the treatment of the striker is bizarre and largely unfair. They also feel there’s a sort of inflammatory agenda behind it.

It is a wonderfully written and well sculpted argument and every fan should give it a read. You can find it here.

It’s also went down very well with Rangers fans on Twitter.

Morelos blog sums up feelings of the fans

This is a just a few of the responses to the article. It’s the talk of Rangers twitter and that’s testament to the research and ideas Smith has put together here.

It might be written by a supporter, but it almost perfectly sums up the situation regarding Morelos. No bias, no bullshit.

It aims to simply deconstruct the press narrative.

There’s also a growing sense of frustration in the Rangers support for what they see is unjust treatment of the striker. A feeling I wholeheartedly agree with.

It is good to see fans opening up the conversation on this. This isn’t just one or two journalists – although some might be worse than others.

It’s even got to the point where Morelos is being bothered on the street by rival supporters.

When you break this down, one thing is glaringly obvious. The stats don’t match up with the accusations levelled at the striker.

He’s a ferocious, combative, sterling young international talent in our game but he’s being browbeaten by lazy journalism.

Well done Gordon Smith and GersNet.

If you haven’t read the blog yet, I’d urge you to do it now. Here it is again.
