They say that Glasgow’s footballing culture and rivalry is a goldfish bowl. That one of your fans or a rival fan can appear at any given moment to give you some playful banter.
And for the most part, that’s what it is.
But sometimes, the muppets reign supreme in Glasgow. And that’s what happened to Alfredo Morelos as he was in the City Centre yesterday morning.
Twitter user @MickMcCahill filmed Alfredo Morelos coming out of the Western Union on Renfield St. In some weird, desperate attempt to gloat, McCahill does not see the irony in suggesting Morelos is “cashing a giro from Dave King” whilst the striker wears a £800 Valentino jacket.

Whilst it’s woefully obvious that he’s sending money back to Colombia, is there a bigger issue here?
Is Alfredo Morelos becoming a figure of vilification?
Casually walking up and filming anyone isn’t ordinary behaviour. Even if Alfredo Morelos is the talk of Scottish football at the moment.
There’s a sarcasm and nastiness to this. It’s something which is arguably reflected in the media narrative around the striker.
This is a 22-year-old who left his home country at 19 to pursue his footballing dream. He’s in strange surroundings in Glasgow and must feel a million miles from home. There has to be widespread condemnation of this from across the Scottish footballing community.
The wee man also can’t become a figure of vilification off the field from these wahoos.
Whilst the press and others, including this rival fan, continue to bash him, he needs to know one thing.
That each and every Rangers fan has his back.
