Rangers could see their Euro hopes severely dented as Borussia Dortmund are set to offer generational star Erling Haaland a bumper deal to keep him at the German club amid recent Premier League interest.

German outlet BILD reports that Dortmund is putting together a club record financial package that could persuade the superstar to stay at the club.

With Rangers taking on the German side in the Europa League Play-Offs in February, Haaland remaining at Dortmund would seriously impact the Ibrox side’s chances of progression to the next stage.

The player has a release clause of £68m that comes into effect next summer and the club is set to offer a club-record deal in order to prevent the many clubs circling the striker from signing him for well below his value.

With Haaland’s value set at £135m [Transfermarkt] then it is understandable that Dortmund are wanting to offer him a bumper new deal in order to maximise the financial windfall they will receive when he inevitable leaves Germany.

The Norwegian has been a revolution over the previous two seasons, taking the continent by storm with his exploits at both Red Bull Salzburg and now Borussia Dortmund.

The 21-year-old has no shortage of admirers, with heavyweights such as Real Madrid and Manchester Utd aiming to sign the striker.

Rangers fans will be hoping that a club can sign him before taking on the German giants in February, otherwise, it could be a long 180 minutes for the Gers backline.

In other news, the Borussia Dortmund sporting director has spoken amid fears that Haaland could miss the clash with Rangers in February.
