Finally, after much chopping and changing over the first half of the season, Steven Gerrard has settled on a first choice centre-back partnership.
Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall. A pairing rated at a combined £9.68 million by Transfermarkt.

All four senior central defenders have been fit for the majority of 2019, but there has been minimal rotation.

Nikola Katic got a go while Goldson was overcoming niggles. Gareth McAuley got run outs away at Kilmarnock and Cowdenbeath.
Since the 4-2 win at Pittodrie last month, though, the first choice pairing have been in situ.
A key reason for that, is that Rangers simply haven’t been conceding goals.

For a while, they were having problems at the top end of the pitch, but now, the goals are flowing.
Throughout that time, it has remained solid at the back.

Big challenge ahead

The Gers travel to Aberdeen on Sunday on the back of five consecutive clean sheets.
Now, though, a significant challenge awaits Goldson and Worrall, in the shape of Sam Cosgrove.
The 6ft 2′ 22-year-old, has got the better of many SPL centre-backs this season, scoring 14 league goals.

Two of those came last time round against the Gers. It didn’t stop
the visitors picking up all three points, but he’s shown an ability to take chances if afforded opportunities.
The centre-backs have performed well recently, but the likes of Dundee, Hamilton and St Johnstone simply don’t have someone like Cosgrove in their ranks.
If they can step up and keep him quiet on Sunday, it will be a big step towards a date at Hampden.
