Rangers head to Aberdeen on Sunday in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, for what could be a season-defining clash.
There were easier possible draws out there, with three Championship sides still left in the competition.
Yet, there are plenty of reasons to be confident heading into the fixture.
Gerrard’s men are flying
Rangers have swept away all before them in their last three matches and are performing at both ends of the pitch.
In attacking areas, they look much improved. 14 goals in three matches is no mean feat and crucially, they’ve been shared around. Wide players are creating and midfielders are chipping in.
Defensively, it has been sound too. The centre-back partnership looks settled and has helped keep five consecutive clean sheets.
Aberdeen low on confidence
Derek McInnes’ side are coming off the back of a dreadful result. They lost 2-0 at home to lowly Hamilton during the week, ensuring they slipped back to eight points behind the Gers in third.
In contrast to their opponents, confidence will be low.
Last month’s Pittodrie win
Aberdeen may have got the better of Rangers several times earlier in the season, but the tide changed last month.
During a chaotic Wednesday night fixture, Gerrard’s men deservedly emerged with three points.
That will be fresh in the memory of both sides ahead of the game. There’s nothing to fear for the men from Ibrox.
