Rangers Head of Academy Craig Mulholland has thrown his weight behind new Sporting Director Ross Wilson, who he thinks has all the tools to make Rangers an elite European force.

The Rangers youth supremo will be working closely with Wilson as Rangers look to produce talent which can play at the highest level in the coming seasons.

Both in making signings and in developing the club’s youngsters, Craig Mulholland believes Ross Wilson will leave no stone unturned in his strive for excellence at Rangers.

“Ross is relentless at what he does. He has real experience and every club he has left, they have been in a good position,” explains Mulholland [Scottish Sun].

“They promote young players and he understands the model here.

“I believe Ross will take us to another level. He wants us to see every day as being better than yesterday.

“We’ll push until this is one of the best academies in Europe, producing players on a regular basis.

“What’s refreshing is the fact we have people like Ross and the gaffer, who have this energy and know what the standards are at a big club — that pushes the club on. You look at Ross’ record, he puts a lot of the building blocks in place.”

Such is Wilson’s pedigree in the game, his appointment by Rangers has had fans excited to see what he can bring to the club.

Wilson also received a glowing recommendation from current Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, who described the recruitment guru as a “big loss” to the Premier League club.

Ross Wilson is clearly well thought of in the game and the club and supporters may well be correct to consider his signature a coup.
