Rangers could face-off against former manager Dick Advocaat in the Europa League after the Dutch manager confirmed he was in talks with Feyenoord.
The Eredivisie side confirmed this week that former boss Jaap Stam was set to step down from his post as manager of the de Kuip side.
Advocaat – who has amongst the richest Dutch footballing C.Vs in football – admitted that he’d been “approached” by the Rotterdam club.

“I’m not going to lie about it, I have been approached by Feyenoord,” said Dick Advocaat [Daily Record].
“There is no agreement yet.
“Feyenoord will make an announcement in due course.”

It’s not the only soundbite the Little General gave on the vacant manager’s role at Feyenoord either.
“I find it very difficult to lie, but that they are interested, that is true,” he added [STV].
A former manager of HFC Haarlem, SVV, Dordrecht, PSV, AZ Alkmaar, Sparta Rotterdam, Utrecht and the Dutch national team (on a number of occasions), there’s arguably no-one who knows Dutch football better.

On top of that, the 72-year-old boss boasts a C.V. which has taken him across European football, including at Rangers, Borussia Monchengladbach, Zenit St. Petersburg, Sunderland and Fenerbahçe among others.
As well as numerous clubs, Advocaat has also managed Holland, UAE, South Korea, Belgium, Russia and Serbia.
Should he get the job at de Kuip it will be the 24th managerial job of an established career in football.
It’s never been good news for Rangers when they’ve had to face off against the Dutchman either.

Advocaat was in charge when Zenit beat Rangers 2-0 to lift the 2008 UEFA Cup Final.
The Ibrox club is scheduled to travel to Rotterdam in the Europa League on the 28th of November.
