Elliot Shaw, who had been working for Rangers as a corporate sales executive, has joined Dundee United as their new Head of Commercial and Sponsorship.

Shaw spent two-and-a-half years at Ibrox following roles with Dundee FC and Elite Ice Hockey League side Dundee Stars.

He now returns to Dundee to take up a senior position at Tannadice, with his appointment confirmed by the Terrors on Wednesday afternoon.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team at Dundee United,” he said [Dundeeunitedfc.co.uk].

“From early discussions with members of the board and executive team, it was clear that this is a forward-thinking football club with great aspirations and I am excited to aid the growth of the club’s commercial operation.”

Shaw has no doubt been picking up tips from Ibrox director of commercial and marketing James Bisgrove, who has struck deal after deal to secure additional funds for Rangers since his appointment in 2019.

United have had some financial issues in recent times, with the majority of the first-team squad reportedly asked to take a 20 per cent pay cut in October 2020 [Scotsman].

They are the only club to have beaten Rangers in the Premiership since the Gers’ 1-0 defeat to Hamilton in March 2020, though, and the two sides will meet for the second time this season later this month at Ibrox.
