Rangers coach Michael Beale has slapped down an angry fan who was bemoaning the Ibrox side’s performance in the 2-1 win over Hibs.

The Ibrox first-team tactician has overseen the dramatic transformation of Steven Gerrard’s side into title winners and offered a little perspective to a supporter clearly lacking it.

Taking to Twitter, Beale was responding to the supporter after the Gers came from behind to beat Premiership rivals Hibs 2-1 at Ibrox.

The fan was tweeting about the club’s formation and tactics, which he felt never changed with Beale to foot some of the blame for apparently stuttering performances.

But Beale put the fan right back in their place and suggested they should instead get behind the team that has a top record domestically over the last 12 or so months.

“22 home league wins out of the last 23 & 1 league defeat in 47 games,” tweets Beale.

“How about you support the players?”

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has also been praising his side after the result and claimed the team showed class and maturity to see off the Hibees.

“We are really pleased with the result first and foremost. Obviously the game became complicated when we conceded,” said Gerrard [Rangers].

“I thought it was against the run of play as we started the game really well on the front foot – you see we flipped our formation today to be more aggressive on the front foot, and the message to the team today was, ‘we are not waiting today, we are going.’

“It was a top of the table clash, so we wanted it to look like that. We didn’t panic – we played with maturity and class and the subs helped us a lot, but I think all-in-all, it was a really strong performance from the boys today.”

Rangers top the Scottish Premiership after the victory over Hibs at Ibrox courtesy of goals from Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos after Kevin Nisbet’s opener.

Rangers fans have also been criticising a leading Hibs star after he was once again sent off for serious foul play against the Ibrox club.
