The Rangers Development side has already lifted the ALKASS Cup and Scottish FA Youth Cup double, with the side on track to secure the development league as well.
The superb performances of our young charges deserve every credit, but there’s one man who also deserves special mention.
David McCallum has been an important figure for this young team. Alongside the likes of Kevin Thomson, Gregory Vignal and Peter Lovenkrands, they’ve done immensely well to develop this side.
Appointed in 2015 as technical coordinator and assistant development team coach, McCallum has helped bring this particular Rangers Academy group forward. He is a former Queens Park Head of Youth and Scottish FA Coach Coordinator.
At the start of the season, McCallum was appointed the Head of Senior Academy and is the lead coach within the U17 group. It’s an appointment that has clearly paid dividends.
Rangers have sought to take a new direction with their Academy coaching over the last few seasons. Whether it was removing the side from the Development League to challenge themselves against Europe’s elite, or putting the team forward for elite competitions, the benefit is there for all to see.
Special mention too must go to the likes of Head of Youth Development Craig Mullholland and Head Development Squad Coach Graeme Murty.

Both figures sit atop the Academy pyramid at Rangers have done a superb job in not only developing our young players but also our talented young coaches.
These coaches, David McCallum included, deserve all the plaudits coming their way for the success this young side have had this season.
Long may it continue, and let’s hope the players can make the breakthrough with the first team soon.
