Rangers insiders and club media partners Heart & Hand claim the club have shut down the suggestion Borna Barisic is set to join Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.
Speaking in direct response to supporters who’d questioned the links, Heart & Hand host David Edgar claims there has been “no contact” between the Gers and Villa regarding Borna.
Asked and been told there has been no contact between Rangers and Villa about Barisic. Any reports to the contrary are false. https://t.co/lRQSqMR6Ga

Edgar also claimed that the club have told him that any reports to the contrary “are false”.
The comments come after Borna Barisic was extensively linked with a move to Aston Villa in the latter stages of November.
These links originated in the Sunday Mirror (21/11, p72) who claim that Gerrard was considering an £8m bid with the Villains currently short at left-back.
This came after the Sun claimed Villa had prioritised a replacement for current first-choice left-back Matt Targett with the Villains having “cash to spend”.
But this was before Matt Targett found his scoring form for Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa side.
Borna Barisic in resurgent form for Rangers amid Steven Gerrard links
Interestingly, 29-year-old Borna appears to have improved significantly in the short period of time Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his team have been in charge at Ibrox.
Gio and his backroom staff of Dutch coaches have tweaked the style with Borna Barisic now very much focused on “maintaining the zero” and the side opting for more natural width through wingers.
Borna had found himself out of sorts and out of form this season so far after a difficult summer disrupted by injury and Euro 2020.
Fans have picked up on the defender’s increased appetite and defensive concentration and as a result the Croatian international has been earning plenty of plaudits.
Long may that remain and Rangers fans will be glad to hear that Borna Barisic is still an Ibrox player and that talk of an Aston Villa exit is premature.
These comments also come only a matter of days after reports emerged claiming that the defender himself wasn’t interested in a move out of Rangers.
