Rangers chairman Dave King has responded to the ongoing fall-out over an allegations a £50m miscalculation of tax from HMRC in 2012 eventually led to Rangers’ demise.
The Ibrox chief was talking about the story, which was broke by The Times, in which former chairman John McLelland suggested things would’ve gone differently if tax penalties were issued correctly.
But the South African-based businessman admitted that it is “not a club issue” and RIFC would have no claim.
Rangers fans were at odds with the Times article last week after it dredged up the suggestion the club and supporters did not have to go through the events of 2012.
It led the likes of Ally McCoist, Rangers manager at the time of the fiasco, to come out and say the fans deserved answers [Daily Record].
HMRC themselves leapt to the defence of their decision in the case [HMRC] and suggested that they had won the case against Rangers, criticising the Times article.
The claims of King suggest Rangers will not be pursuing legal action after reports originally claimed the Ibrox club were considering their stance [Telegraph].
