Rangers captain James Tavernier has heaped the praise on “electric” Ibrox teammate Abdallah Sima amid a strong run of scoring form.
The Senegalese international forward, 22, is on loan from Premier League side Brighton and has stated the campaign on explosive form.
Adding goals number eight and nine in the 4-0 win over Hibs, the fifth straight game that Abdallah Sima has scored, James Tavernier praised the striker and claims the onus is on Sima’s teammates to present him with the chances to score.
“(Abdallah Sima) has been a real attacking threat for us this season,” James Tavernier said. “He’s got electric pace and can finish in difficult areas.
“Generally with our forwards, we have to give them better service as a team. We need to get around them and give them opportunities to get on the scoresheet the same as Abdallah.”
James Tavernier continues strong praise of Abdallah Sima
James Tavernier isn’t the only one who has been praising Abdallah Sima this week either with the Rangers skipper one of several who’ve marked out the attacker.
Incoming Rangers manager Philippe Clement was delighted to talk up the forward following his debut win over Hibs, suggesting more is still to come from the big man.
Ahead of the Europa League clash with Sparta Prague, rival Danish manager Brian Priske also marked the striker out as “quality” whilst former Brighton coach Billy Reid labelled him “explosive”.
The form of Abdallah Sima has had plenty at Rangers crossing their fingers over a potential full-time move for the £7m attacker.
But with no loan option in the striker’s Rangers agreement, Abdallah Sima is certainly keeping his cards close to his chest.
“I don’t know [if I will extend my stay at Rangers],” said Abdallah Sima. “I’m just happy to be here and to score goals and enjoy every minute of being here at Rangers.

“Before I came here, they told me it is a big club with amazing fans, but I didn’t expect it to be as big as it is. Let’s see what is going to happen in a few months.
“It’s always special to score goals. So seven goals in seven games is really special for me.
“As a striker, it is very important for me to score goals and if I am scoring in almost every game it is helpful for my confidence. I feel it is getting higher all the time and I am hoping to score goals in every game. I have to keep going.”
Brighton signed Abdallah Sima from Sparta Prague in 2021 but the forward is yet to play for the Premier League club, instead being farmed out on loan to Stoke City in the English Championship and Angers in Ligue 1.
In 16 loan appearances for Rangers, the striker has netted nine goals and made a big impression on the Ibrox squad.
