Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima was giving nothing away when quizzed on his Rangers future after an explosive start to life in Glasgow.

The attacker netted his eighth and ninth goals in the 4-0 win over Hibs at the weekend as the Senegalese kickstarted Philippe Clement’s reign in charge of Rangers.

Speaking as calls continue to mount in Rangers circles for the Ibrox side to test Brighton’s resolve for the attacker, it appears Abdallah Sima is very much open to discussions even if he’s not interested in talking a switch up.

“I don’t know [if I will extend my stay at Rangers],” said Abdallah Sima. “I’m just happy to be here and to score goals and enjoy every minute of being here at Rangers.

“Before I came here, they told me it is a big club with amazing fans, but I didn’t expect it to be as big as it is. Let’s see what is going to happen in a few months.

“It’s always special to score goals. So seven goals in seven games is really special for me.

“As a striker, it is very important for me to score goals and if I am scoring in almost every game it is helpful for my confidence. I feel it is getting higher all the time and I am hoping to score goals in every game. I have to keep going.”

Rangers fans back ambitious bid for Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima

As Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima scored his eighth and ninth goals of a productive start to life at Rangers, you’ll forgive fans for getting carried away.

That’s even if after the whole Malik Tillman debacle you’d think that Rangers fans would’ve learned their lesson when it comes to talented young loan players joining from the big leagues.

But whilst Rangers are a substantially bigger football club than Brighton & Hove Albion could ever hope to be, the Seagulls hold all the cards when it comes to the current Ibrox man of the moment.

Hibs were the latest to feel the ruthless wrath of nice guy Abdallah Sima as the Senegal international continued to show his finishing prowess by netting in a fifth straight game.

He’s also rubbed out that tired line about Jack Butland being the summer’s only success story in the process.

It’s led to Rangers fans calling for the club to test Brighton’s loan resolve when it comes to Abdallah Sima, who joined the Premier League side in a £7m deal from Slavia Prague in 2021.

Since then the attacker has been unable to breakthrough into the club’s top team with loan stints at Stoke City and Angers proving fruitless before his move to Rangers.

Now 22-years-old and clearly taking a substantial step in his development in Glasgow, Brighton are no mugs when it comes to the transfer market and we don’t expect them to be here either.

Time will tell whether or not Rangers can realistically approach the Premier League over a switch but going by Brighton’s recent dealings, on current form Abdallah Sima’s price might just be a tad too rich for us to pay.

The forward has also been the subject of recent praise from a former Rangers captain.
