Rangers bound midfielder struggling at current club as Ibrox move nears

Rangers bound midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh is struggling at EFL Championship side Wycombe Wanderers as his Ibrox switch nears.

The promising Bournemouth player signed a pre-contract agreement with the Gers in January before heading out on loan to Wycombe on deadline day in search of playing time [Wycombewanderers.co.uk].

The Chairboys have found it hard to compete in their first season in the second tier and were rooted to the bottom of the table before the 21-year-old’s arrival.

Therefore, the transfer was very well-received by their supporters, given how well he’d done in a first loan stint at Adams Park last season.

However, things aren’t quite going to plan right now.

Ofoborh started three league games in a row in February immediately after his move but has found opportunities hard to come by since then.

He was an unused substitute for the following four matches and has only made brief appearances in the last four, all of which Wycombe have lost.

The most recent of those defeats came on Tuesday night at QPR, with Ilias Chair’s first-half goal the difference between the sides, and the future Ger was only given the final seven minutes to try to make an impact.

Ofoborh is likely disappointed at his current situation and playing a bit-part role at a relegation-bound Championship side is far from ideal preparation ahead of a big move to Ibrox.

The powerful midfielder, who can also play in defence, will soon be up against a number of senior internationals for a spot in a team looking to compete in Champions League football and for domestic silverware.

Wycombe have eleven league games left to play, so there’s still time for Ofoborh to make his mark. However, it appears that he’ll need to up his game significantly if he’s to get a look in at Rangers next season.

Rangers have received a major boost after a current key player stated his intention to sign a contract extension.
