Rangers have received a major boost after key player Steven Davis confirmed he wants to extend his stay at Ibrox beyond the end of the season [BBC Sport].
Veteran stars Davis, Allan McGregor and Jermain Defoe are all out of contract in the summer.

There has been uncertainty regarding the futures of all three but Steven Gerrard has previously said a contract extension for Davis is a priority [Glasgow Times] and the Northern Ireland legend has confirmed that Ibrox is where he wants to be next season.
“I’m sure we’ll sort something out,” said the 36-year-old regarding a potential new deal [BBC Sport]. “I don’t envisage it being a problem.”
“I have got a very open relationship with the manager and the club. After the season we’ve had I certainly want more of it.”
“We are very comfortable with the situation we are in.”
This is a major boost for Gerrard and the supporters, given how integral a role Davis has played this season.

He may be 17 years into his professional career but he’s still managed to make 38 appearances in all competitions.
Davis is playing a slightly different role to the one he performed during his first stint at Ibrox between 2008 and 2012, but he arguably has even more influence on games these days, dictating the tempo, showing off his extensive passing range and breaking up opposition attacks.
Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Hamilton in February showed how much the side suffers when he’s taken out for a rest and given that he’s got through the majority of the campaign without picking up an injury, a new deal is a no brainer for the club.
Davis has played a big part in bringing success back to Ibrox and supporters will be delighted to hear that he wants to stay on and push for more next season.
Rangers are in action again on Thursday evening in a Europa League Last 16 first-leg clash against Slavia Prague and are eyeing a substantial cash boost from UEFA.
