Initially, that didn’t seem to be an issue for Steve Clarke.
The first game back after the deal was struck, the Gers faced Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
Jones played the full 90 minutes and scored the winning goal against his future teammates.
However, ever since, he’s found himself in and out of the team. In the final game before the international break, the two sides met again, but this time, the Northern Ireland star was nowhere to be seen.
He went away and caught the eye of fans in two Euro 2020 Qualifiers, but ever since, he’s struggled for game time.
The electric winger started the goalless draw with Hibernian at the beginning of the month but hasn’t featured since.
He wasn’t getting much of a go when fit. Yet, Steve Clarke confirmed on Friday, as captured by KilmarnockTV, that he has now picked up a shoulder injury.

It remains to be seen how long he will be out for, but he missed Saturday afternoon’s 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen.
Overall, then, apart from his displays for Northern Ireland, it’s been a very disappointing few months for Jones, who hasn’t scored since 1 February.
One thing’s for sure, he’ll be well rested by the time he reports to Ibrox for pre-season!
