Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has praised the “fantastic” Andy Halliday after bouncing back from a nasty-looking head knock to carry on against Livingston.
The Ibrox utility man was handed an opportunity at left-back following an injury to Croatian international Borna Barisic [Rangers].
And after Halliday came in against Killie and performed admirably against Livingston, Steven Gerrard singled the player our for praise after picking up the head knock in the 1-0 win over the Lions.
“Credit to him for carrying on,” said Gerrard [RangersTV].
“Most people would’ve went off with that. Andy’s attitude has been fantastic, his last two performances have been good.
“So we’re pleased with him, but he’s gone over the advertising board and nearly lost his eye.
“He’s had stitches and carried on so I’m really pleased with his bravery and his character to carry on.”
The former Bradford midfielder isn’t likely to take the left-back berth from the bang in-form Borna Barisic but he has performed admirably as a back-up to the Croat.
One of the Ibrox club’s longest-serving players, Halliday was signed under Mark Warburton back in 2015.
With his contract expiring at the end of the season, the 28-year-old will be hoping to secure a new deal with the club that he grew up supporting.
