Rangers boss Steven Gerrard provided an injury update as his side prepare to welcome Livingston, saying that it’s “as we were” when it comes to his Gers squad.
Speaking ahead of the visit of the Lions, Gerrard provided a short but concise injury update on where his squad stands ahead of the must-win match.
The short response suggests that once again Rangers will be without Croatian international full-back Borna Barisic, who the club will be desperate to be fit for Thursday’s visit of Braga in the Europa League.
A reporter asked Gerrard, “how are we on the injury front?”.
Gerrard simply responds, “as we were”.
Barisic has been missing from the Rangers side since being forced off against Hamilton Academical in the 4-1 Scottish Cup win last weekend.
It meant that the full-back was sorely missed during the frustrating 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in the week and Rangers will need the creative left-back back and firing as soon as possible.
Barisic has been a standout performer for Rangers this season despite his future hanging in the balance during the summer.
Such has been Barisic’s commanding form the Croatian international recently signed a new contract tying him to Ibrox until 2024 [Rangers].
The former NK Osijek captain has laid on 14 assists and scored twice in 33 games this season [Transfermarkt] and represents a big miss for the Ibrox whenever he isn’t on the field.
Barisic joins striker Jermain Defoe (calf) and defender Filip Helander (foot) on the sidelines ahead of a potential banana skin against an on-form Livingston side.
