The comments of Jurgen Klopp about Steven Gerrard replacing him at Liverpool might’ve spawned plenty of headlines, but most Rangers fans are honest with themselves.
If Liverpool come a-knocking, you’ll be hard-pressed to find many who don’t think Steven Gerrard would take the leap of faith.

Klopp told the footballing press that he believed that Stevie G should take up the mantle of Liverpool boss once he moves on [Four Four Two].
This is nothing new – Klopp has previously discussed the idea of taking a sabbatical when his Liverpool contract expires in 2022 [Kicker].
Combine that with these latest comments from the German and the thoughts of Polish goalkeeper and Liverpool’s hero of Istanbul Jerzy Dudek – who said it’s a given Gerrard will take the job next – and you begin to see Gerrard not as A candidate for the role, but THE candidate.
If all of this didn’t point to Gerrard taking the reigns when Klopp moves on, the fact the Scouser’s four-year contract is set to expire in 2022 is another clue as to where his future lies.
There can be little doubting the transformation that Steven Gerrard has brought to Ibrox and when he does move on – because he will – then he’ll do so with all of our best wishes.

From the outside looking in, it really does look like it’s all set up for Steven Gerrard to move from Glasgow to Liverpool come 2022.
But he’ll have a plan to leave a proper mark on Rangers and in Scotland before that’s all said and done.
