Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has praised the maturity of Greg Docherty, describing the midfielder as “a different man” to one he met last season.
Docherty enjoyed an incredibly fruitful spell at Shrewsbury in the last campaign where he helped secure the Shrews League One status and also picked up a host of individual awards.
And Gerrard’s comments now suggest the player is going through a coming of age at Ibrox.

“He has come back a different man,” said Gerrard, as quoted by the Herald.
“He has matured a lot from his experience, going out of his comfort zone, living away from his family, living up to the expectation of being a Rangers player on loan.

“He won Player of the Year and had a real positive loan. I think Shrewsbury did a fantastic job with him.
“On the evidence of what I’ve seen since day one of pre-season, he looks a different player and a different person.
“So we are delighted with what he has offered since he came back. Fair play to him.”
Those comments on Doc maturing are very relevant as for a while it could be argued his future at Ibrox was uncertain.

The player – who has always reiterated his determination to success with his boyhood club [UK Bulletin] – left last season a boy and has come back a man.
And by the sounds of things, he’s worked his way into Steven Gerrard’s plans in the process.
