Rangers loanee dominates end of season awards ceremony

Rangers loanee Greg Docherty has thrived on loan at Shrewsbury Town.
Unsurprisingly, on Tuesday night, he dominated the club’s Supporters Parliament Player of the Season Awards.

Docherty moved south of the border in August and has impressed throughout his time in League One.
He’s accumulated an impressive 49 appearances so far, scoring ten times. Furthermore, he has a very useful eight assists in the league.

It’s not as if things have come easily, either. This campaign has been a slog for the Shrews, who have been looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone throughout.
With a 1-1 draw against Coventry at the weekend, though, their League One status has been confirmed.
It’s been a good week for Docherty, who now knows the extent to which his adopted side’s fans have taken to him this season.
He was named Family Stand Player of the Year, Away Travel Club Player of the Year and Player of the Year.

With three awards, he picked up more accolades than any other individual squad member.
That sort of personal success must instill confidence that he can make it back at Ibrox next season.
The competition will be fierce in midfield. However, judging by his performances this season, he won’t shy away from the challenge.
His final Shrewsbury fixture is against Walsall on Saturday, ahead of his big Ibrox return this summer.
