Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has left a series of Instagram posts displaying his love for the Ibrox club as a debate rages amongst rivals fans – mostly of the Celtic persuasion – regarding his Manager of the Year award.
Salty rivals have been trying to comfort themselves over the reality of 55 by playing down the Stevie G-led and rather incredible unbeaten season at Ibrox which halted 10IAR and broke records aplenty.
By using Calum Davidson and St Johnstone as leverage, there are plenty out there who believe that the Saints gaffer was “robbed” of the award.
Whilst there’s certainly a case to be made for the St Johnstone boss, the notion he was “robbed” of it by Gerrard is quite simply sour grapes and the argument is wildly transparent.
Gerrard himself said he would “cherish” the award and all this posturing seems to take away from what was a quite remarkable season at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
Not only that, but Rangers will be going into next season with everyone desperate to beat them but with the club having an unbeaten record to maintain. This could go even further.
Gerrard spoke in the aftermath of the legendary title win about his love of Rangers and how the club has gotten into his heart and this was evident again as he shared an image of his son Leo with the Scottish Premiership trophy.
We’re certainly not saying this had anything to do with the moaning – more reflective of how much Rangers now means to Gerrard – but perhaps the image of Morelos was more of a swipe.
The Gers gaffer shared an image of the striker looking dapper as anything and throwing up the 55s for the room.
Steven Gerrard has over 9m Instagram followers and there’s something wonderful about them all getting a glimpse of El Bufalo looking particularly staunch in his club suit.
